FELLOWSHIP: December 2026 Revealed

FELLOWSHIP: December 2026 Revealed

For December 2026’s Fellowship selection, we wanted a book that felt made for long winter evenings: atmospheric, magical, immersive, and filled with the sense of discovering a world just beyond our own. A World Apart by Meghan Nesmith is a spellbinding historical fantasy debut that combines Victorian London with faerie magic, mysterious otherworlds, and a story about the choices we make when two worlds collide.

London, 1866. Kit Finchley is determined to master the magic that has always eluded him and escape the expectations that come with his title. But when a spell goes disastrously wrong, Kit tears open a doorway into the Veil, a liminal realm where Wilfrith and his family have been trapped for eight hundred years following a bargain with the Faerie Queen.

What begins as an accident quickly becomes something much bigger. Fascinated by this strange world and determined to find a way to free Wil, Kit begins searching for the magic that might bridge the divide between their worlds. But the Veil is not without its dangers, and the fae who inhabit it are far more unpredictable than Kit could have imagined.

Meanwhile, back in Victorian London, Kit finds himself drawn into an entirely different kind of world. A young bohemian woman from an aristocratic family challenges everything he has been taught about magic, society and his own future. As the boundaries between duty, desire and the supernatural begin to blur, Kit is forced to confront just how much he is willing to risk to change the fate that has been written for him.

What makes A World Apart such an exciting Fellowship choice is its wonderfully evocative setting. Meghan Nesmith brings together the elegance and social expectations of nineteenth-century London with a mysterious magical realm existing just beyond it, creating a story that feels both historically grounded and wonderfully strange. There are secret bargains, dangerous fae, forbidden magic and worlds separated by centuries, all woven through a beautifully realised historical setting.

Most excitingly, A World Apart marks the arrival of a brand-new voice in fantasy. Meghan Nesmith is making her fiction debut with a novel that already demonstrates a remarkable confidence in its worldbuilding, prose and characters. For Fellowship, discovering new authors at the beginning of their journey is one of the things we value most, and we’re thrilled to be able to introduce our members to Meghan with her very first novel.

And there’s an extra reason for Fellowship members to get excited: Meghan will be joining us in Brighton for the Fellowship Festival this October. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our community to meet the author behind our December pick, hear more about the world of A World Apart pre-publication, and celebrate this exciting new voice in fantasy together. By the time December arrives, we hope our members will feel like they are welcoming a new favourite author into the Fellowship community.

For Fellowship members, we’re delighted to present A World Apart as our December exclusive. Signed and numbered by Meghan Nesmith, this highly limited edition has been created especially for Fellowship members, with bespoke endpaper artwork, digitally sprayed edges and stunning copper foil on the boards, making this a particularly special way to mark the publication of such a promising debut. We can’t wait to see it make its way onto our members’ shelves and hopefully provide the perfect book for a cosy winter escape.
